About The Craft: Kashmiri Pure Kani Silk Jamavar Sarees are woven using an ancient and intricate technique that dates back centuries. The weaving process involves wooden 'Kani' spools, each carrying a different colored thread, carefully interlaced to create elaborate patterns without any embroidery or printing. Weavers follow a coded pattern called ‘Talim,’ which guides them in crafting the design, sometimes taking months or even years to complete a single saree. The motifs, deeply inspired by Persian and Mughal art, include paisleys, florals, chinar leaves, and intricate vines, symbolizing nature and cultural richness. The luxurious blend of Pashmina and silk ensures a soft, warm, and regal drape, making these sarees a true testament to Kashmir’s textile heritage.
